Congratulations to this year's All-State Choir selections! 🎉🎶
- Jonah Hill — KMEA Senior High SATB All-State Chorus
- Vincent Pickle & Elizabeth Tait — KMEA Junior High All-State Treble Chorus
These students were chosen from hundreds of taped auditions to be among the top young singers across Kentucky. We couldn't be more proud to have them representing Berea Community on the statewide stage. This is a huge honor, and a testament to our student's musical talent and dedication. Our Pirates keep knocking it out of the park! Let's give them a HUGE round of applause for this amazing accomplishment! 👏🏴☠️

Our HS Boys and Girls Basketball teams kick off the regular season this week. 🏀

This morning, our Middle and High School students came together in Singleton Gym to celebrate Veterans Day and honor the local heroes who have served our country. It was a morning filled with gratitude, reflection, and appreciation for the veterans in our community.
The program featured performances by the BCHS Band and Choir, directed by Mr. and Mrs. Barnhill, as well as inspiring speeches from students who shared what Veterans Day means to them.
After the assembly, veterans and their families were invited to enjoy a meal in the back atrium, graciously served by our FCCLA students.
We extend our sincere thanks to all the veterans who joined us today, we are so proud to recognize your service and sacrifice.
Special thanks to our JAG and FCCLA programs, Mr. Trussell, and everyone who helped organize this meaningful event. Your hard work made today truly special!

8th Grade Heads to Nashville! 🎶
Our 8th grade trip will be rolling off to Nashville TN this May on an unforgettable trip to close out their last year at BCMS.
Activities will include trips to the Adventure Science Center, First Art Museum, Vanderbilt University, Country Music Hall of Fame, Puttshack ...and more!
Our kick-off meeting will be tonight, November 10th, at 6 PM in Kennedy Theater. All 8th grade students interested in joining the trip (and their families!) are invited to come learn more!

Last Thursday, students and parents gathered in Singleton Gym to celebrate our JAG students and initiate officers at the 2025 JAG Initiation and Installation Ceremony.
As explained by freshman Gabby Harris, "JAG (Jobs for America's Graduates) is a program in our school district that helps students become ready for the real world when we graduate."
JAG focuses on giving students the opportunity to develop soft and hard skills that may not otherwise be taught in their core classes. It's about fostering those traits that will help them succeed in professional environments. How to properly present yourself, what language to use, etc.
If you spend any time at all around these students, it's impossible to miss the fundamental impact the JAG program has on many of them. From their handshakes and confident eye contact to the professionalism of their emails, the degree to which they apply these skills outside of the classroom is astounding.
Susie Harris and Nikki McHenry spearhead these programs with stewardship and integrity like you wouldn't believe, teaching our students lessons they'll carry with them throughout their professional life. We deeply appreciate the work they’re doing.
It was great to see this program recognized and celebrated at the ceremony, along with all the students, staff, and community members who make JAG what it is. Congratulations to all those initiated officers, and thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success.

The Berea College Fields were buzzing with life as crowds lined up to watch the students pass by, and our Pirates were right at home on their home course. Amazing performance from all our Pirate athletes. Great work, team!

The competition was fierce, the energy was electric, and the games were absolutely nail-biting. For most of the tournament, 8th grade dominated, taking down 7th, 9th, and 10th grade in an unprecedented win streak. There were tears, and cheers, but at the end of the day, they were no match for our seniors, who rose to the top and took home the gold.
Nothing like a mid-day Dodgeball match to build comroadery and get us all excited to come to school. Because when you miss school, you miss out. Way to go team, let's go Pirates!

Who needs a backpack when you've got a mini fridge? This morning the halls of BCS were filled with all sorts of unusual objects being lugged from class to class for Anything But a Backpack Day. Shoutout to our Pirates for showing up with imagination and school spirit. We wouldn’t expect anything less!
