Preschool Open House!
We’re excited to welcome our newest little Pirates at our Preschool Open House on Monday, August 24, from 3:00–5:00 PM!
Families can stop by the preschool doors across from the playground to meet their teachers, explore their classroom, and ask any questions they may have before the first day of school on Wednesday, August 26.
We can't wait to meet you and welcome you to the Berea family!

⭐ First Two Days of School: Morning Arrival ⭐
We are so excited to welcome our students back to BCES on August 13th! To help make our first two mornings smooth, welcoming, and stress-free, please review these important arrival reminders:
🕖 Arrival & Start Time
* Drop-off begins at 7:05 a.m. and ends at 7:35 a.m.
* All students should be in their classrooms and ready to begin the school day at 7:40 a.m.
* All students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast. 🍎🥛
🎒 Kindergarten
Kindergarten students will meet their teachers in the atrium for check-in. After check-in, kindergarten paraeducators will be in the cafeteria to welcome and assist students. Staff will be in the hallway to help direct kindergarteners.
🎮 1st Grade
First graders will meet their teachers in the gym once they are dismissed from breakfast.
📚 2nd–5th Grade
Students will report directly to their classrooms once they are dismissed from breakfast and/or the gym.
👋 Our Staff Is Here to Help!
You will see staff members throughout the hallways and common areas helping students find their classrooms and other destinations. We are ready to welcome students, answer questions, and help everyone get where they need to go!
💛 Parents & Guardians
To help our students build independence from day one, parents and guardians will not escort students to classrooms.
For everyone's safety, parents/guardians should remain in their vehicles during both morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Our staff will help students safely enter and exit the building.
We know the first day brings excitement, anticipation, and maybe a few butterflies! 🦋 Thank you for partnering with us as we create a safe, smooth, and positive start to the school year.
⭐ Let's Level Up Our Learning together! 🎮📚
We can't wait to see our BCES Pirates!

Today we had the joy of welcoming many of our newest Pirates for the first day of Kindergarten Camp! Throughout the day, our incoming kindergarteners made new friends, met their teachers, explored their classrooms, and began building confidence before the first day of school.
It's always exciting to see these new students meet each other. Many of them will learn, grow, and celebrate milestones together for years to come. It's always incredible to watch our seniors cross the graduation stage alongside classmates they've known since their very first days of school, and for many, that journey begins right here in Preschool and Kindergarten.
Whether they're with us for one year or all thirteen, we're honored to be part of their story and excited to welcome them to the Pirate family!

Join us today or June 30 for Kindergarten Registration! We can't wait to meet our newest Pirates and welcome your family to Berea Community Schools.

Bo competed at the KTCCCA Elementary School State Championship over the weekend with his team, the Kentucky Golden Eagles, while representing Berea Community Elementary. He broke the state long jump record, earned First Team All-State honors, placed 6th in the 200m (29.87), and finished 8th in the 100m (14.09).
What an incredible example of the amazing athletic achievements of our Pirates over summer break. We couldn't be more proud to have students like Bo representing Berea. Congratulations, Bo!

Our little Pirates never fail to amaze us with their energy, personalities, and confidence. If this is the next generation of Pirates, we’re definitely in good hands!
A special thank-you goes to Preschool Lead Teacher Ms. Karen Galloway and our entire Preschool staff for attention and care they poured into these students all year long.

Congratulations to our outstanding 5th grade class for finishing the year strong and taking their final steps before starting middle school!
Yesterday evening, following our Kindergarten Celebration event, Conkin gym was once again filled with proud friends and family members who gathered to cheer on our 5th graders as they crossed the finish line and completed elementary school.
It’s always emotional to see students’ BCES journeys come to a close at the end of the year, but next year they won’t be far away! Our elementary staff will just have to remember to visit them right across the hall as they begin their 6th grade year at BCMS.
We’d like to send a huge thank-you to our entire 5th grade and elementary staff for everything they invest in these students every single day. We couldn’t do it without such an incredible team, and our students feel that support throughout the entire year.
Congratulations, 5th Graders!

It’s always so rewarding to see how far these students have come over the course of the year, and we couldn’t be more proud to see them moving on to 1st grade.
We’d like to thank all of our Kindergarten teachers and staff for looking after our students, encouraging their growth, and teaching them valuable skills and habits that will follow them for the rest of their lives. They’re here for our students every single day, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their hard work. We know the students feel the same way!
Congratulations Kindergarten!

Good times all around at today’s BCES Field Day!
Throughout the day, our front lawn was filled with laughter and games as our elementary Pirates enjoyed some fun in the sun. Field Day is always a special tradition, signaling the end of the school year and giving students and teachers an opportunity to enjoy time together before summer break.
We'd like to give a special shoutout to BCHS Alumni Vicki Spivey, owner of 859 Party Rentals, who provided all of the inflatables & yard games for a great price, as well as the BCES Pirate PTO, who covered the cost of everything for field day. We love our community partners!
We had a blast watching our students run around the front lawn today, and we’re excited to carry that energy into our final days of school next week. Let’s finish strong, Pirates!
