📚 Book Fair Week!
All week long, the Middle & High School Library is full of new books and trinkets for students to brows and take home! From Young Adult Fiction to Graphic Novels and Fantasy, there's something for everyone. Throughout the week, curious readers will get the chance to check out books from a wide variety of authors and genres.
Book fairs like this are just one of the many ways our amazing librarian, Ms. Rose, inspires students, builds literacy skills, and fosters a lifelong love of reading here at Berea Community Schools.

Berea College CELTS Students Bringing Creativity to Our Classrooms! 🎨
Mrs. Wilson’s classroom was full of creativity Wednesday evening as students teamed up with Berea College's Center for Excellence in Learning Through Service (CELTS) for a fun and hands-on after-school program.
CELTS students guided learners through the process of making several creative arts & crafts projects and sent them home with some colorful paper flowers and butterflies to show off on the fridge.
CELTS is a program at Berea College focused on service, mentorship, and civic engagement. As an umbrella organization, CELTS hosts a variety of programs that serve different groups in our community. Throughout the school year, many CELTS students partner with our FRYSC director, Natasha Johnson, to support after-school programs for elementary and middle school students.
Their reach extends to all sorts of programs at Berea Community. CELTS students often assist with classroom support, help with family and literacy events, and provide translation and outreach through their Hispanic Outreach Program.
This long-standing partnership continues to be an important part of how we support and uplift our students, and we're always excited to work with them. We couldn't be more appreciative for the time, care, and energy these college mentors bring to our schools.
👏 Thank you to the CELTS team for investing in our Pirates and helping them learn, grow, and create together!

This week, we're celebrating senior Samone Burgess!
Samone has been a student at Berea for 4 years, creating memories she won’t forget, like her FCCLA trip when they “got security called on us for being too loud!”
Some of her favorite teachers over the years have been Mrs. Caudill, Ms. Natasha, and Mrs. Graham, Samone shared that they “constantly remind me of the woman I want to become and always push me to be the best I can be.” She says she’ll always cherish their support and encouragement.
After graduation, Samone plans to attend college and major in biology.
Let's all wish Samone the best of luck with her plans after graduation, we can't wait to see all the great things she accomplishes! 🎓

This is what club day is all about, sharing hobbies, making new friends, and connecting over the things we love. Good work Pirates! Keep practicing those chords!

Last night Conkin Gym was packed with Pirate families and friends, excited to cheer on our 1st and 2nd graders as they took the stage!
Under Ms. Talley's direction, they sang songs about frogs and bears and fish, and performed a number of themed dances and games. For a few songs they even got out the xylophones, and the crowd loved every minute!
After the show, families enjoyed a special display of student artwork, and our young performers left the gym feeling proud, confident, and full of joy. What a talented group of artists!
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our students, and to our incredible staff and volunteers who made the evening run so smoothly. We couldn’t do it without you!

Supporting Every Mind at Berea 💛
Every school needs a strong network of support. At Berea Community, we’re proud to have our incredible ACCESS Team, dedicated mental health professionals and school psychologists who help students and staff build healthy habits, navigate challenges, and remember to “Be Gentle to Your Mental.”
Through the ACCESS Grant and the Southeast/South-Central Educational Cooperative, we also host graduate-level mental health interns each year. These interns gain valuable hands-on experience while providing meaningful, day-to-day support to our students and staff alongside our amazing counselors and psychologists.
📣 We’re now looking for mental health interns for the 2026–2027 school year!
Know someone who might be interested? Have them scan the QR code on the flyer to apply!
But ACCESS at Berea is more than a program, it’s a community effort. Berea has adopted the "ACCESS" concept to include a long list of leaders and administrators throughout our school, who all serve our students and communities thorough a mutual effort to improve morale, encourage healthy habits, and provide support where it is needed. This ACCESS Team hosts a number of mental-health-focused events and family engagement nights for our Berea families throughout the school year, as well as organizing care for our staff during Professional Development days and more. This is a team that truly cares about the mental well-being of all the students in our schools.
👕 Want to support the ACCESS Team?

Earlier this week, our 3rd graders visited the Lexington Children’s Museum for a day full of discovery and hands-on learning!
Students explored hands-on exhibits and participated in a special Bubble Science enrichment program, where they learned about the science behind bubbles through interactive experiments and demonstrations. It was a fun and engaging learning experience for everyone involved.
A big thank-you to the wonderful folks at the Lexington Children’s Museum for hosting us, and to our amazing teachers and bus drivers for making the day run so smoothly!

Join us tonight at 6:00 PM in Conkin Gym for our 1st & 2nd Grade Music Concert, led by Ms. Tally!
Don't miss out on this great opportunity to see our talented young musicians shine. We can't wait to see you there!

Join us next Thursday, April 2nd, at Texas Roadhouse in Richmond for a great meal that gives back! When you show the flyer, 10% of your total food purchase will be donated to support our JAG program.
JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) helps prepare students for life after high school by building leadership, career readiness, and real-world skills for success in the workplace.
This is a great opportunity to help support one of our school's most impactful programs, and have a great dinner in the process!
We hope to see you there! Thank you for supporting our students, Berea families!

Last night our Ballpark was busy as fans came out to cheer on Berea, Lincoln County, and Clark Moores. Both our middle and high school teams hit the field for some of their first games of the season, an exciting start to spring softball!
Longer evenings, greener grass, and a great crowd to support our student-athletes, that's spring sports for you! We're excited to spend more nights out at the Ballpark this spring.
Be sure to come out and catch more of the action tomorrow! Our middle school team is playing back at home, and our high school team heads to Danville tomorrow afternoon. Let's cheer on our Pirates!

With the April 30 deadline approaching, we’re closing in on 2nd place on the Medium KY Schools leaderboard, and every can counts as we push toward the finish!
Since October, schools across Kentucky have recycled an incredible 463,225 aluminum cans. Such an incredible way to stay mindful of our waste and bring our school communities together.
Let’s keep the momentum going, save your empty aluminum cans and drop them off at the school to help Berea finish strong!

This week, we're celebrating senior Alan Garcia!
Alan has been a student at Berea for 12 years, 7 of which he's been in classes from one of his favorite teachers, Mr. Barnhill. One of Alan's favorite memories was senior dare night at the beginning of his senior year.
After graduation, Alan plans on either going to college or joining the workforce full time.
Let's all wish Alan the best of luck with his plans after graduation, we can't wait to see all the great things he accomplishes! 🎓

It's thanks to partners like these that we're able to grant our students these meaningful opportunities to grow, succeed, and push their boundaries outside of the classroom. It makes such a big difference in our school community.
We're excited to cheer on our FCCLA students as they head to their State Leadership Conference! Let's go, FCCLA! 🎉

Good luck to our HS Baseball team this week as they play in the All A Regional Tournament at Legends Field in Lexington.
Good luck to ALL of our teams and coaches this week! Go PIRATES!!
