2026-2027 Registration Information

Kindergarten registration will take place at the Berea Community Elementary School located at 2 Pirate Parkway in Berea on the following dates:

  • Thursday, June 11th

  • Tuesday, June 30th

Kindergarten Registration for Berea Independent Schools is coming soon! If your child will be 5 years old before August 1, 2026, he or she is eligible to register for kindergarten. Please read the information below if you are enrolling your child in kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year.

The following documents must be turned in before a child can be fully registered:

  • Parent/Guardian Photo ID

  • Birth Certificate

  • Proof of Residence: lease or utility bill

  • Enrollment Form

  • Parent Survey

Families can pick up these required forms in the front office.

The following must be completed by the first week of school:

  • School Physical 

  • Immunization Certificate

  • Vision Screening

  • Dental Screening

Change in Kindergarten Entry Age and Addition of Early Admission:

As reflected in KRS 158.030, children who turn five (5) on or before August 1 are eligible to enroll in kindergarten in Kentucky.

In accordance with KRS 158.031(6), Berea Independent Schools has established criteria for early entrance to kindergarten. Students who turn 5 years old between August 2 and October 1 will be eligible to enroll provided that the student meets the established criteria. The deadline for application is May 1, 2026.

Criteria for Early Admission to BCS Kindergarten:

Child resides within the Berea Community School district or has been offered a potential enrollment as an out-of-district student

Child must turn 5 between August 2nd and October 1st of the admission year

Child must score at or above the 96th percentile on an intelligence test

Child must score at or above the 96th percentile on the Kaufman Survey of Early Academic and Language Skills

Demonstration of gifted characteristics and social, emotional and physical maturity
