Greetings Pirates,

I hope this email finds you well. Upon monitoring and evaluating Covid-19 this week among our students, faculty and staff we noticed a rise in the number of cases at BCS. Therefore, we will remain on temporary remote instruction next week. Oct. 4th-8th. There will be no extracurricular activities during the week of Oct. 4th-8th. The only extracurricular we have allowed is district, regional, state competition because they are one time events and cannot be rescheduled. We realize that this can be an inconvenience for you and your personal situation. So, we wanted to announce the decision early.  In the spirit of transparency our current numbers as of today are as follows:

4 confirmed active staff

6 quarantined staff

6 active students

96 students quarantined

20 plus students awaiting testing results

Oct. 11th-15th is still Fall Break for BCS. We feel that by providing next week and Fall Break together we can return to in person learning on the 18th with a healthy, fresh start. In person learning in the safest environment possible is always our goal. At no point do we ever not want to be in-person. We have tried our best throughout the pandemic to be proactive and put health and safety first. Right now, it appears that we are facing the predicted peak of cases that the health department and state has referred to for the past two month. (End of Sept. through early Oct.)

We would like to provide the opportunity for breakfast and lunch for our BCS students on Oct. 5th-8th. We will begin serving on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021. We need information back no later than 9:00 am on Monday Oct. 4th, 2021 in order to adequately prepare the meals for our students.

Unlike the Summer Food Service Program under our current waiver we will only provide meals for those students who are currently enrolled in BCS. As long as the student is enrolled in our district whether virtual or in-person their parent or guardian will be able to pick up a meal for him or her next Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This is necessary only if you plan to pick up meals next week.  We will not be serving meals during Fall Break. This is only for next week because we will be on temporary remote instruction for the entire week.

Just a quick update / revision to the previous email. There is no school for students on Oct. 18th. The 18th is a staff work day. Students will return on Oct. 19th for in-person learning.
