Superintendent's Message

Diane Hatchett
Superintendent

Greetings Pirate Familes,

I hope this email finds you and your family well. We will have NTI day 3 tomorrow due to the call for freezing temperatures and standing water on our district’s roadways. Our district has multiple roads that are holding water currently from the melting of snow and rain today. Based on information gathered from The National Weather Service, Madison County Emergency Management and local weather service outlets there is potential for water on area roadways to freeze up and create slick spots, black ice as temperatures drop into the teens. Motorists have been advised to exercise caution in the am.  We could see 1 to 1.5 inches of rain with potential for flooding, flash freezes etc. making a morning commute challenging to say the least. We care about the health and safety of students, faculty and staff. Principals will reach out with further information this evening.

On a side note, just so you know based on guidance from the Kentucky Department of Public Health and the Kentucky Dept. of Education Berea Community Schools will continue to follow the protocols regarding positive cases of COVID-19 and exposures which were already in place. This means those exposed to a positive case will continue to follow the 10 day quarantine period. This means the following who are positive or exposed to a positive case will continue to follow the *10-day quarantine period:

Thank you for your grace, flexibility and understanding as we navigate these times together. Please be safe and we will see students, faculty and staff districtwide on Tuesday.

Sincerely,

Dr. Diane Hatchett, Superintendent
